Selling across various Languages

My company sells health supplements across 3 languages in Europe: English, German and Dutch. We used the internal Shopify translation feature to display the text in the local language. But this feature does not change the product images to the local language, our packaging has text on it in the respective languages. (Attached a screenshot)

So we have our base site, which is a .NL from here it gets translated to German and English Then in Germany the .DE is linked to the .NL and Similarly in the UK.

Is there an app (or any other solution) that we can utilise that can perform this function? We feel that if customers in Germany see Dutch packaging, they would not be very inclined to buy the product because they can't read it.

If there is no solution to this, by using 1 Shopify account, please help to advise alternatives? Ideally, we avoid having 3 different Shopify accounts, as it just overcomplicates things especially as we expand on languages.

Hi @OlivierAligma ,

To tackle the issue of showing localized product images and text translations in your Shopify store, here are some ideas you might consider:

  1. Dynamic Images with an App: There are several Shopify apps designed to help you display different product images based on the selected language. Some notable ones include:
LangShop: This app not only handles translations but also allows you to upload different images for each language version of your store.
Translate & Adapt: This is Shopify’s own app for translations, which can work alongside other tools to customize content, though you may need more apps to handle image switching.

  2. Custom Coding: If existing apps don’t meet your needs, hiring a developer to create a custom solution for your theme could be beneficial. This would involve coding to detect the user’s language choice and display the corresponding product images.
  3. Shopify Markets and Subdomains: Since you’re managing multiple regions like the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, consider using Shopify Markets. This lets you:
Create subdomains for each region (like .nl, .de, .co.uk).
Customize images, content, and translations for each market. Shopify Markets supports localized content, and combining it with a translation app that allows image localization could streamline your approach.
  4. Multiple Storefronts: If managing multiple Shopify accounts seems complex, you might look into multiple storefronts under a single Shopify Plus account. Each storefront can have its own language, images, and domain. Note that this may require upgrading to Shopify Plus if you’re not already on it.
  5. Shopify Geolocation App: This app can automatically detect where a customer is browsing from and suggest the relevant language or market. However, you’ll still need a solution to switch product images based on language.
  6. Separate Listings for Each Language: As a more manual workaround, you could create separate product listings tailored to each language. For instance, you could have products specifically for the German market featuring German packaging, and similar products for the Dutch market. You can then tag and filter these based on the visitor's location or language choice.

I hope that this will be helpful to you in tackling this concern. Take care
