Ship items separately option

My site offers products that are in stock and pre-orders.  Many of our orders contain in stock items and pre-orders on the same order, and usually we wait until all products are in hand before we ship.  I was wondering if there are any examples, or apps available that would give the customer the option to ship items all together or choose to ship the in stock items separately?
