Shop as B2B or B2C

Hi,

On our shop we have both B2B and B2C customers, and would like to give the opportunity to choose which one of the customers, they are, when they enter the site.

We imagine a solution like this where "Erhverv" is B2B and "Privatkunde" is B2C.

Afterwords, the prices should appear without tax for B2B and with tax for B2C.

Is it possible to make such a solution?

Hi @cimbertrading,

Hyde here from Shopify. Great question!

If you're selling to customers that's classed as retail, whereas if you're selling to businesses, that's wholesale. Selling wholesale, there are a few ways of doing that:

This is probably the easiest. All you need to do is create discount codes that you provide to your wholesale customers. This works well in the following situations:

You could open another store, and transfer any or all your content. You could then customize that new store for wholesale in the following ways:

  1. Hide your wholesale products and their prices from your retail customers by password-protecting your store and customizing your theme.

Sync products and inventory between your two stores. Because you are using a separate store, all your inventory and product information will be separate from your original store. Instead of trying to manage two stores, you can sync your retail and wholesale products and inventory with an app.

If you have more robust needs, then you can use an Inventory Management System (IMS) solution. An IMS solution can bring all your inventory and store information together by integrating marketplaces, inventory, POS, payment processors, and accounting solutions into one centralized source.

Some merchants also opt to lock a part of their store with a password using an app like Locksmith or EasyLockdown, so that only certain customers have access to it. That way they can then display different product prices within that section of the store. It does mean you will need to have duplicates of products in the store admin (one version with retail price and another version at wholesale price) but it's probably the simplest version after simply creating discount codes.

Whichever way you decide to organize your store, to achieve an access page like the one you provided as an example you will need to hire the help of developers or a Shopify Expert. These are a team of third-party developers and designers who can help customize your store in ways that we cannot support.

I hope this all helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

All the best, Hyde.

Thank you for your answer, would it be possible, just to show the prices with and without tax, with a click on a button? E.g. on the menu?
