Since you are familiar with JavaScript you might be able to try the nodjs tutorial, it’s probably a lot to learn, but you will need to start somewhere:

We are new to shopify. We have one shopify app idea to build using react/Node.js/Polaris.But we don't know where to start.Could you please explain us how to start building an app step by step. We need clarification for the following concepts.
1) Do we need to maintain admin page separately for an app?
2) Do we need to create separate front end user interface to integrate in merchant's site?
3) How app admin page and front end user interface are integrated?
4) How to manage users information?
