App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hello, I am seeing double the amount of store sessions on my shopify account since May 22. I have only just realised this has been occurring and by comparing sessions on google analytics I can see that this started on May 22nd and is still happening now. I I downloaded some apps allowing you to use two pixels on your site some time ago - **Omega ‑ Multi Facebook Pixels** and **MultiPixel ‑ Facebook Pixels** which are already uninstalled on the store. They were installed just before May 22nd and uninstalled very soon after.
Even though these are uninstalled , the same issue is still happening - my store sessions are doubled and I am worried other data may be doubled also. As there are twice as many store sessions as there should be my conversion rate has gone extremely low (which obviously isn't accurate due to the over inflated store sessions).
I want to make sure that one of the Facebook Pixel IDs is removed so that it will record the sessions accurately and that there is no coding left from any of these apps.
The only facebook pixel I want to use is 1008535515899596.
I have spoken to the developer of the Multi Pixel app and he said this:
"I have checked and can confirm that MultiPixel is no longer running on your store. As soon as you uninstall MultiPixel it stops functioning as we lose our Shopify connection with your store. It is not something from our side.
I have investigated your store and it looks like you have the Shopify Facebook app installed. Additionally you have this extra code at the top of your store:
<!-- Facebook Pixel Code -->
<script> !function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s){if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod? n.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)};if(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n; n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';n.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0; t.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0];s.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)}(window, document,'script','https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/fbevents.js'); fbq('init', '1008535515899596'); fbq('track', "PageView");</script> <noscript><img height="1" width="1" style="display:none" src="https://www.facebook.com/tr?id=1008535515899596&ev=PageView&noscript=1" /></noscript> <!-- End Facebook Pixel Code -->
The reason that I thought this would be conflicting is that I can see the same pixel ID1008535515899596 in Shopify's trekkie library (this is what the Shopify Facebook app uses) further down the page:
trekkie.load( {"Trekkie":{"appName":"storefront","development":false,"defaultAttributes":{"shopId":5162797,"isMerchantRequest":null,"themeId":120366104662,"themeCityHash":"9078103975024841526","contentLanguage":"en","currency":"GBP"},"isServerSideCookieWritingEnabled":true},"Google Analytics":{"trackingId":"UA-51913075-1","domain":"auto","siteSpeedSampleRate":"10","enhancedEcommerce":true,"doubleClick":true,"includeSearch":true},"Facebook Pixel":{"pixelIds":["**1008535515899596**"],"agent":"plshopify1.2"},"TikTok Pixel":{"pixelId":"C2D41TVMU8Q03RAIREBG"},"Session Attribution":{},"S2S":{"facebookCapiEnabled":false,"source":"trekkie-storefront-renderer"}} );
If both these bits of code are using the same pixel ID that could be the cause of duplicate events.
I did have the shopify facebook app installed which was using another pixel a long time ago as well, to make things even more confusing, but I deleted the app. There should be no coding left from this app, if so I really want it to be removed as this could be causing the duplicate issue. He thinks I still have the coding from the facebook shopify app and other extra code at the top.
Could someone please help me with what needs to be removed so there are no duplicated pixels and my store sessions are recorded accurately and nothing is duplicated.
The only pixel I should be running is 1008535515899596.
I would be really grateful if a developer could access my store and help me with this!
Many Thanks
Victoria
