Shopify Subscription App Customer Missed Payment

I've been using the Shopify Subscriptions app build by Shopify.  It's simple, but gets the job done. 

 

Yesterday, a customer was due to get their next auto order.  Their card was out of date, so the order wasn't created in Shopify.  The customer went in and updated their card info upon notification.  The subscription contract says the next order is set for Sept 7th.  It looks like August 7ths order was canceled and skipped.  Is this correct?  Or, will it catch back up because the customer entered their payment info?
