Shopify Support says there is a Sales Quota to join Collective

So I received a direct invite link from a supplier to join Shopify Collective. The invite page that they promote even mentions that you can "sign up for free" for Shopify, so clearly they are trying to attract new retailers to the site. Makes perfect sense to me.

Well, I go to activate my invite link and I get redirected to a "waitlist" screen for Shopify Collective. I contacted support, and they said it's because my Shopify store is new and I need $50k in sales within 12 months to qualify to join Collective.

This was pretty frustrating, since the point of adding my store to Shopify was to participate in Collective. Also, nowhere on the Shopify Collective help page does it mention a sales quota. The requirements are listed very clear, and a sales quota is not on the list.

Does anyone know how to proceed? Was Support accurate with their information they provide me?

Hi @Bayley

It’s natural to be frustrated. Even though the Shopify Collective invitation suggests access is free for all, it does not mean that you won’t need to meet an internal criteria such as sales history. Support may be right that new stores require a $50K level to trigger. Unfortunately, it’s not always so transparent. You can attempt to re-confirm with Partner Support for clarification.
