StoreSEO vs. SEOPRO - is one better than the other?

I'm new to SEO, and started using Shopify tools to help - I'm looking for guided recommendations to drive traffic to my ecommerce site for improved sales. I installed both the StoreSEO and SEOPro apps. After employing both apps, they seem to give opposing recommendations: I went through the SEOPro 'Fix your SEO' tool, and my optimization measurements improved there, but drove down my optimization on StoreSEO. So I went back to StoreSEO and re-applied their recommendations; it improved their results, but drove down the SEOPro optimization measurements again.

Is one of these apps better, more reliable or more recommended than the other? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Hi @OctoberDesign

It’s great that you’re working on your Shopify store’s SEO! StoreSEO and SEOPro offer different approaches, which is why their recommendations might conflict.

  • StoreSEO focuses on on-page SEO like meta tags and descriptions.
  • SEOPro dives deeper into technical aspects like page speed and mobile optimization.

Instead of following both apps' advice blindly, focus on common recommendations like optimizing titles, descriptions, and images. If the conflicting advice is confusing, you can stick with one app based on your needs:

  • SEOPro is better for technical SEO and overall optimization.
  • StoreSEO is great for basic on-page SEO.

Don’t forget about keyword research, blogging, backlinks, and site speed—they’re all important for long-term SEO success.

SEO is a continuous process, so keep an eye on your results and adjust as you go.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and explain. Keywords and backlinks are next on my to-do list, and I've already optimized my product photos; will be going through the rest of my site to for larger images that are slowing things down.

As for the two SEO apps I mentioned, the optimizing titles and descriptions were where I found the contradictions; one app tells me that fewer words are better; the other advises to add longer titles and descriptions (for both product and Meta), so I'm honestly confused about which is the preferable route.

Since I'm a newbie with all this, I will probably stick with StoreSEO for now and upgrade later to SEOPro once I understand more. So thank you, I really appreciate your help with this!
