Subcription app that doesn't need Shopify Payments>

Hey Friends,

I am looking for a subscription app where shoppers can request to have their order repeated every month (or whatever interval).

Issue is, I see Recharge and Bold both now require Shopify Payments.

Anyone know of a reputable app that will allow Authorize.net?

Thank you!

This is an accepted solution.

It’s one of those things that’s always a risk with large platforms like Shopify, they get to make the rules.

I had a quick look at Authorize.net and if you’ve got the all in one plan, it’s basically the same price as Shopify payments (2.9% + 30c). If you’re using the merchant acquiring account plan, you’re paying your MSF on the transactions through your bank, so it could be cheaper, but more likely it’s the same price.

You could look at building out your shop on another platform like squarespace or Wix? It would give you more control over these sorts of things.

Hi @ShurlyHeather

You might be out of luck, unfortunately! Shopify recently announced a new Subscriptions and Upsell API that requires the use of Shopify Checkout, rather than the 3rd party implementations. Here's a link to the announcement.

So I am pretty sure you won't see any apps with this function get approved into the app store in future.  😞

This sucks.

We use Authorize.net

Shopify Payments is so expensive...

Is there something I am missing here?

Bold appears to offer a subscription app that integrates with Shopify?

https://boldcommerce.com/subscriptions

Unless I'm missing something?

My question is - if I am already using authorize.net as my gateway, why do I need bold or even shopify's subscription service?  Authorize.net has an ARB (automatic recurring billing) feature.  Is there are reason ARB from auth.net won't work on shopify?
