App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hey all,
So I'm trying to connect my Shopify store to Instagram and facebook and setup that channel.
But when I get to business assets to chose the pages I see the following:
"This account can't be selected because checkout on Facebook or Instagram is only available in some countries. If you want to select this account, go back and choose a different checkout method. Learn More"
I tried to see where I can change that but didn't find it.
Please help! 🙂
Thanks in advance to all the helpers.
Regards,
Yuval

Hi everyone.
So, I disconnected the instagram account from the facebook account and it worked.
Just go on Instagram from your phone and turn your account from business to personal.
This will disconnect the account.
Once you did that, go back to shopify and try to connect the store again.
It worked for me.
Let me know.
Hello,
I'm having the same problem here. I will try to look for answers and get back to you if I manage to solve the issue!
Hey! Did you happen to work it out at all? Thank you 🙂
I am experiencing the same issue. Both Shopify and Meta documentation for this extremely important aspect (connecting Facebook and Instagram with the store) is outdated, irrelevant and confusing. I watched tens of video on YouTube to get to this point and now stuck at "changing checkout method". I have spent days trying to figure this out which should have been an easy task to begin with had Shopify and Meta done a better job with documentation. If anyone knows the solution, please post here. Any help would be much appreciated.
Error message is attached. Oh, and don't bother about "Learn More" link in it. It leads to another useless document from Meta.
I'm having the exact same problem. The amount of time I've spent to try figuring what to do to change it is ridiculous. This task is so easy on other platforms and it happens on specific accounts. I have another Facebook page that doesn't show this error. Couldn't find the reason why...
While @Shopify need to step up and help merchants, they prefer to take a back seat calling it a "third party issue". Shopify tutorial (trust me, I have seen and read it all) downplay the complexity and severity of this subject - "how to connect your store to FB and IG and enable Facebook Shop and Instagram Shopping". Those who are struggling know that it's so extreme and so depressing that it can deter many people from going ahead with their business.
I have exchanged so many emails with Meta in the last few days, and although they are not very competent in responding (partial response, irrelevant response, copy paste response etc.), I think this is how they are suggesting it goes:
1. Build your online store.
2. Create FB and Instagram profiles for your business.
3. Make your profiles "popular" through interactions - followers, likes, shares etc.
4. Meta won't tell you the criteria for your profiles becoming "popular".
5. Keep paying hundreds of dollars every month for all your subscription.
6. Don't mind if you are not selling anything because Shopify won't come to your rescue (remember, it's a third party problem?). All the Shopify guides are outdated, too simplistic, partial or simply link to Meta articles with exact same qualities.
7. Once your FB and IG profiles become "popular", go to Meta Business Suite and Commerce manager to do all the settings. Again, there is poor documentation from both Shopify and Meta on this. Some Youtube videos will help.
8. Now you can connect/sync your store with the channels and enable Facebook Shop and Instagram Shopping.
I am at steps 3-6 at the moment and touched on step 7 proactively. Hopefully step 8 works out with the same ease as I have noted it.
Good Luck.
This update was overdue. My Facebook Shop and Instagram Shopping were approved about a month after I posted the above. So again, just do what you have to do in terms of settings and wait until it happens. Above points are just the pain points you have to go through. It's part of the process so don't get frustrated, it will happen.
Same issue here
Additionally, the "Set up Facebook" from the Online Store Preferences sends to an error page "Sorry, something went wrong." on this URL: https://www.commercepartnerhub.com/shopify_app/home/
Does the whole integration with Facebook have been out of service for a week?
Were you able to figure it out? Having the same issue and it’s so frustrating!

You saved my life, I did tried plenty things and nothing worked, but this worked perfect . God bless you
Welcome 🙂
It will not work for someone whose Instagram account is still not approved by Meta. The reason why disconnecting Facebook from Instagram works is because getting approval for Facebook is relatively easy. After disconnecting the two, Facebook may get approved instantly, but Instagram may not. In which case, you still need to wait for Instagram to be approved in order to establish Instagram Shopping.
Also, after doing business-personal account switching, disconnecting, reconnecting and switching again, your Instagram scheduled posts will disappear. Don't panic, it won't break anything. When you try to post on Instagram again, you will get a "tagging" error. Again, just ignore the error and continue to post while waiting for Instagram approval.
It worked!! Thankyou
You are a true Hero! Thanks
Thank you and you're correct this shouldn't be an accepted solution changing a business account to personal account for this to work.
I am not waiting to see if Instagram approve my shop.
Thanks! This worked for me - somewhere along the way Instagram asked for new details to move back over to professional. Once I filled the details in I got an error message something like "this can't be completed now" (I can't remember the exact error message) at this point I just pressed next and it was able to move on to the next step. Just adding that here in case someone hits the same speedbump
PS I had a FB/Insta store and it disappeared (this is because FB removed stores unless you upgraded to in-app checkout). Now that I've got it back again I've noticed that the collections on FB/Insta no longer sync with those on my Shopify. So the collections on FB/Insta shop have to be manually filled with products : (
This didn't work for me. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I changed my Instagram account to Personal, & I still can't seem to connect my FB account to the Shopify/FB app.
Please help!
