Updating Shopify inventory with vendor stock reports

Is there an app that will compare your Shopify inventory with SKU numbers from a vendor? Example: We have over 600 products from a Vendor. Our Vendor gives us weekly stock sheets with all of their products which can be over 2,000 products. These weekly stock lists have updated pricing, discontinued items and inventory counts on items that are still in stock. It is a very long and tedious process comparing over 600 products weekly. I am looking for something that will automatically sort and flag items that are out of stock and keep pricing current.

Hi @CarolK,

There are apps available for Shopify that can help with syncing inventory and comparing SKU numbers with vendor stock sheets. Apps like "Stock Sync" or "Syncio" might offer the functionality you need, allowing you to automate the process of updating pricing, inventory counts, and identifying discontinued items based on your vendor's stock sheets.

However, for more tailored functionality that aligns precisely with your vendor's specific data sheet format and your unique requirements, you might consider developing a custom app. A custom solution can be designed to seamlessly handle the comparison and updating process, specifically catering to the format and details of your vendor's weekly stock lists. This would significantly reduce the manual effort involved in maintaining your inventory.

I will check these out, thank you so much. Is developing a custom app expensive?

Hi @CarolK, the custom app you need in this case shouldn't be expensive.

We have an automation template that pulls inventor updates from vendor CSV files:

https://www.getmesa.com/apps/ftp/integrate/shopify/update-shopify-inventory-levels-from-a-csv-file-o...

Should be able to customize that for the specific vendor stock report in question.

This may be a better option than developing a custom app.

You need a custom app tailored to your needs! This app would allow you to upload Excel sheets, mapping the data to be stored in a database. Then, it would fetch data from your Shopify store, compare current prices with the uploaded ones, and present the comparison in a convenient table format(User Interface). From there, you could easily decide whether to maintain the current price, update it individually, or perform bulk updates.

For a project of this scope, the estimated cost would be 3000 CAD with a duration of 1.5 months. This includes thorough testing and finalizing the custom app to ensure it perfectly meets your requirements.

Your inquiry aligns perfectly with what we are working on - a system that automates the comparison of your Shopify inventory with vendor SKU numbers. Handling large volumes of products and their weekly updates becomes effortless, allowing you to focus more on business strategies rather than tedious manual tasks.

We have implemented a similar system at:
Emerdepot - Medical Supply Store in Toronto.

Hi @CarolK

You can use Stock Sync on your store to keep your products updated with the sheet provided by your supplier. Stock Sync is able to keep the pricing updated and remove any discontinued products as well.
