App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi
I want to avoid using a paid app to manage my Back in Stock emails and SMS alerts.
Has anyone tried embedding a Klaviyo form on a product page and adding conditional JavaScript code to check the inventory level so it appears automatically when a specific product stock level goes to zero?
Thanks. Alan
Hi @alanbrimm Yes you can add the Klaviyo embedded Back in stock button functionality and you are correct you can implement it with the help of javascript or you can di it with liquid and shopify flow as well.
if a stock is 0 then you can add the condition in the flow so that it will add the tag in the product and then after that you can ad the code on that basis of this tag.
Hopefully it will help you. If yes then Please don't forget hit Like and Mark it as solution!

Hi Sahilsharma
Thanks for your reply.
I also have some products that I would like to keep selling on backorder and keep the back-in-stock form hidden. Can I build this functionality into the code?
Thanks. Alan
So for some products you want pre order button and for some products you want Back in stock Button.
Yes both can be done you can normally remove the tag from those products where you want pre order button and add the pre order button from shopify itself, that not an issue.
Hopefully it will help you. If yes then Please don't forget hit Like and Mark it as solution!

Thats great!
Thanks for your help.
@alanbrimm yes it is possible as @sahilsharma9515 mentioned. But you should know, that Klaviyo BiS considers the inventory of all locations. So if you have two locations (Online-Fulfillment Warehouse and POS) Klaviyo will consider the inventory of both locations.
Got it, Thanks Finer
@alanbrimm We run a back in stock alerts app - STOQ - so I wanted to share some quick context.
You can definitely use Klaviyo's flow and it should be quite easy to set up. In fact, there's a ton of posts on Community for help with setting it up too. 🙂 That being said, we see a lot of merchants switch from a Klaviyo flow to using an app (or an app + Klaviyo integration). There's a few key reasons, and most of them will affect you as you scale up -
1. Locations & Markets: Klaviyo does not control how notifications are sent. It will send out notifications if any location is restocked. If you use Markets, this is a bigger problem since customers in a market that cannot be served by a location will get alerts to purchase, and they'll end up on a dead link.
2. Reporting: Aside from actually notifying customers, it might be helpful to know what products are actually in demand, what the conversion rate is like for notifications and how it's trending. Most apps will give you a ton of insight here, that you can use to restock better. 🙂
3. More flexibility: You can send notifications from the dashboard, based on time of day or channel, notify customers in batches (to only notify as many as you can sell out) and send reminders to increase conversation to sale.
With STOQ specifically, you get the best of both worlds - you can use our app to control who gets a notification and use Klaviyo to actually send the alert with your brand design. It sounds like you've decided on Klaviyo specifically for now, but I wanted to highlight all of this in case it helps with making an informed decision. Happy to help with any questions! 🙂

Hey @alanbrimm
If you're considering options for back-in-stock (or cart abandonment) notifications, you might want to take a look at Checkout Companion. It’s a conversion-focused app designed specifically for Shopify and Klaviyo, and it offers some great features for back-in-stock alerts that can really enhance your customer experience.
