Using the admin API to set certain products unable to be shipped overseas

Using a particular metafield, is there a way to either inside shopify, or using the graphql admin interface to set certain products to be unable to be shipped overseas?

I have been looking through the API docs and haven't found anything relevant as of yet. I have a third party syncing data to shopify, and with a custom metafield, i would like to be able to on a per product basis set it to allow or disallow international shipping.

I think you can restrict the products from loading in certain countries using a combination of "localization.country.iso_code" and the custom metafield value.

Thank you for that, im looking into it now to see if it will be suitable. We dont want to use a third party app (locksmith) so doing it in house is a priority.
