What are essential features and must-haves for a new online store?

Hi community!

New to Shopify and have watched and read a lot of articles and YouTube videos and am overwhelmed by all the apps and add-ons and up-sells I see.

i can also see this post becoming a huge debate on personal preference but do any of you have a cheat sheet for me?

1. Short List of must have basic features (not app recommendations just what the app does).

2. a cheat sheet check list of must haves on site before launch. 

3. hint and tips and other recommendations.

4. a business plan to make a YouTube video and charge people for this. This one is a joke haha.

any and all help is highly appreciated and as you have all done this before I am sure you have invaluable resources that would aid me and the community greatly. A link to any posts or sites similar to this is also appreciated.
