App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi there. I am on the hunt for an app that handles quantity price breaks without interfering with existing Shopify discounts (automatic or discount code).
I have tried both Shopacado and Bold Custom Pricing, both of which have issues with Shopify discounts. All feedback is appreciated. Thank you.
Hi @cives_nhada,
Can you share more details about the features you're looking for in the quantity break app? Also, let me know what didn't work for you in the app you tried before, so I might suggest better options for you 😊.
I am looking for an app to generate price breaks at fixed prices, i.e. buy 5 or more at $10 each, 10 or more at $8 each, etc.
Additionally, it is important that the app does not interfere with existing shopify discounts. Example: we have a discount in place where all items in a collection are 10% off. Our current quantity break app does not function when the items are already being discounted.
Can you clarify what you mean by "does not interfere"?
In your example, if you have a product that's already 10% off because it's in the existing discount's collection, and if a user buys 10 or more so it becomes $8 each, do you want the effective discount to be 10% off $8 each, which will be $7.20 each? Or are you ok with the best of these 2 valid discounts on the same product?
An ideal scenario would be the customer is receiving the bulk discount they always receive in addition to the 10% discount that is running; in your example above, it would go down to $7.20 each, yes.
So that would actually be "stacking" discounts, and not just combining. Stacking is not currently supported by Shopify natively or via the new functions approach, although I believe they're working on making it available.
They announced the other day that they're working on making it possible to return multiple discounts from a single function: https://github.com/Shopify/function-examples/discussions/194#discussioncomment-6608313
But I'm not sure on the status of combining discounts that weren't made in the same app.
Hi Cives_nhada,
Shameless self-plug: I'm the developer of Regios Automatic Discounts , an app which includes volume discounts and integrates seamlessly with Shopify's built-in discounts.
Instead of using Draft Orders like many other apps, my app uses Shopify Functions, so it's essentially the same as a built-in discount.
Draft Orders are an older API (announced in 2017), and don't seem to be compatible with Shopify's regular discounts (although a draft order can have its own individual discount).
I anticipate that as adoption of Shopify Functions grows, more and more discount apps will become compatible with built-in discounts.
Another benefit of Shopify Functions discounts is that they can be combined with other built-in discounts, like product discounts, order discounts, or shipping discounts.
Hi, @tobebuilds — I downloaded the app to test it out, and it looked like it interfered with my existing bulk discounting app, Shopacado. I created an automatic discount to test it, and when I simulated an order, the product's bulk discount rate was not applied. This, unfortunately is the exact issue I'm trying to solve.
Let me know if this is purely a setup error or if you have any other bulk discount apps that are compatible with Regios Automatic Discounts.
The cart should show each product @ 113.31ea and then the 10% applied. Thank you for your time and assistance.
Thanks for providing additional details!
Based on a conversation I had with another merchant who is using Shopacado, it seems like Shopacado is also using draft orders. In this case, it unfortunately won't be compatible with other kinds of discounts, at least out of the box.
Regios Automatic Discounts does have its own volume discounting feature, but at this time, we don't support adding a discount pricing table onto your store, so I can understand that you probably want to keep your existing Shopacado setup.
I have a couple of other users who are using apps that operate via draft orders, so I'll try adding some new code to my app that:
If this turns out to work, I'll post another update in this thread.
Thank you. Do you have any merchants that use quantity apps that do not use the cart API?
Unfortunately, no, none of my users have mentioned other apps to me unless they were either telling me they switched from another app, or experiencing compatibility issues with another app.
Hi @cives_nhada
There are few apps which will add variants in the products but that process is too long if you have lot of products. You can try Bundles & Quantity Breaks this app, as they are making manual coupon code and you can make lot of discount.
