App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
where can I find a bar code scanner that is compatible with your app. Or is there a brand I can buy?
Hey, @wildedawn.
Welcome to the Community forum. Thanks for bringing your question here! I'm happy to help.
Just to clarify, are you hoping to purchase a barcode scanner that is compatible with the Shopify POS app? If so, you can use Shopify-supported Bluetooth barcode scanners to quickly add products to the cart at checkout. For a list of these, please refer to our help document: Barcode Scanners:
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. In the meantime, I'd love to hear more about your business plans. Is this a new venture that you've started?

Hi Luna: I need to be able to scan my inventory when i add it to stock. I have a bar code scanner but can't figure out how to scan it and then have it add to stock in the right size and sku. I have done this 17 years and it's like every week counting inventory. why? once you count it and sell it, and then grab something to ship as a replacement and forget to change it, then you inventory is ouot of wack, or perhaps you get 5 shipped in and iyou forgot to add them on the website....so then you need to count again....is it possible to scan to add to stock with shopify, a scanner and no 3rd party app?
Hey, @Bobbie_Floerchi.
Thanks for getting back to me with this additional context. I completely understand the importance of being able to scan your stock into Shopify. I’ve done some digging and found some apps that could help you achieve this, such as:
Feel free to explore more options on our Shopify App Store here. I recommend looking for great ratings, as browsing the reviews on an app can be a great way to learn more about what the app offers, and how other businesses have benefited from using the app.
Please let me know if these solutions would work for you. Otherwise, we can continue to look into this together.
Warmly,

Hey @Bobbie_Floerchi @wildedawn to my knowledge Shopify doesn't enable a direct scan of an inventory item to add quantity to stock.
If you've been having challenges you should try SKUSavvy which will enable scanning to stock, as well as purchasing, check-in and receiving, inventory locations, and full pick-pack-ship workflow so you can get rid of several apps and replace them with a single platform.
Using SKUSavvy is easy! Simply create an account, and connect to Shopify which will bring down your orders, customers, locations, products, and inventory, then you can allocate items to a bin location. Once you're orders come in, you can batch the orders together or handle single orders by going through a digital pick-list, then packaging them up, selecting a shipping label, and printing it off. Each order once fulfilled will update the status and tracking information back to Shopify as well as keep accurate data between Shopify.
It's free for less than 50 orders, then scales directly between $0.19-$0.10 per order. Full demo video here.
