App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi,
I have just started incorporating the Shopify marketing automation options. I have used the three standard templates already set up, and now want to add 2 more:
1. Sent email at 26 weeks since last purchase
2. Send email at 52 weeks since last purchase
The Shopify app isn't suitable as it has a max time limit of 90 days and won't allow me to schedule emails beyond that limit.
Is there an automation app that I can add to Shopify that will enable me to schedule automations as per my requirements? NOTE: I need to be able to include existing customers and not just those added AFTER the automation app has been installed. For example, I contacted Avada, but their our app only works for orders since installation, not existing order.
Any help and advice welcome!
Thanks,
Nigel
I would take a look at Klaviyo, they have the most data points I've seen for email automation with Shopify, including getting past customer data.
Of all the email apps our team has used, Klaviyo is the #1 favorite. Here's a guide we have about setting up some automations + a case study on the use: https://speedboostr.com/automated-email-marketing-with-klaviyo.
The 2 flows you mentioned are easily achievable with Klaviyo.
Hi there Nigel,
Klaviyo is a fantastic marketing automation platform that can help with the email flows you mentioned.
I've heard of retailers setting up custom email flows even after specific delivery events (for example, shipment exceptions) and offering discounts and gift cards for the next purchase to ensure they don't lose customers due to carrier delays.
I hope this information is useful. ✌️

Hey Nigel you can use Omnisend to send emails 26 weeks and 52 weeks since last purchase. I created a video tutorial for you here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_Y2NuBRDyE&t=1s.
It's inspired by your question.
If you need the automation to apply to all customers (not just those added after the automation app was installed), you may need to use Klaviyo. It seems that Omnisend only allows you to apply flows retroactively on only their preset workflows — not custom-built flows — (https://support.omnisend.com/en/articles/4294537-triggering-the-workflow-retrospectively), whereas Klaviyo may support back-populating any flow (https://help.klaviyo.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002779231-Understanding-how-back-populating-works-in-K...).
Good luck!
