App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi,
Right now we use a third party Wholesale app with Shopify Plus. We're able to make discount codes in Shopify that work in addition to the Wholesale discount/application, but are unable to track the ROI of the discount code through Shopify. I believe this is because the discount isn't attributing to the discount line item so Shopify isn't recognizing it as applied? The only way I know if someone used a discount code is by opening every order tagged Wholesale and seeing if the regular Wholesale price per item is lower than usual price. It doesn't show the discount code name anywhere in the order or the extra discount on the bottom, just the individual item. So therefore we cannot track discount code usage or sales in Shopify reporting or Better Reports. I have been researching other Wholesale applications to see if there is a solve and it's been difficult to get a clear answer before switching. Please help! 🙂
@BrayleeDestira , if the wholesale app you're making use of uses Shopify functions to create discounts, then you should not have any problems with the discount codes getting attributed correctly.
I suggest you try our app, Discount Bot, to manage wholesale vs. retail discounts:
Also, the app is built from the ground up using Shopify functions so discounts should be attributed correctly throughout the admin.
If you have any questions, please let me know and I'm happy to assist.
Thanks so much! Right now our regular pricing for Wholesale and Retail is working great with the current 3rd party WS app. We tag all of our Wholesale customers "wholesale" in their Shopify profile, and assign the discount for Wholesale customers (for ex: 40% off)within the app. When we want to do additional sales or promotions- For ex: extra 10% off Wholesale, or tiered discounts Extra 5% off $500, 10% off $1500, 10% off athletic wear, etc., we're able to generate the discount code in Shopify as usual, and our Wholesale customers can easily use the discount code in addition to their WS discount (in the app). However, because the discount code discount isn't attributing to the discount line item, Shopify is not recognizing the use of the code, so even though it works and is able to be used, we cannot track ROI or usage of many times it was used, etc. I swear our previous 3rd party Wholesale app allowed us to track. So right now, say leotards are $27 with their Wholesale discount, I can tell when they used a discount code if we're doing a sale by opening each order and if the leotard is 10% off- $24.70, then I know they used the code. The discount code is affected the price per item, but not the total on the bottom, therefor Shopify isn't recognizing the code. I hope that helps clarify. Thanks!
You're welcome @BrayleeDestira , I would then get in touch with your current app support to see why the discount codes are not getting attributed. Also, if you want to try Discount Bot to see if it addresses your needs better (it has multi tier discounts built right in, for example and your wouldn't have to create a separate discount for each tier), I'm super happy to help. We also provide a 7 day trial.
I asked our current app and they are unsure why/they don't support tracking of a discount code made in Shopify. I could have sworn our previous app it worked.
