App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
I am trying to finish linking my FB and IG to my Shopify store but am getting the following message:
“These assets are already linked to a shop. Since you don’t have permission to edit the shop, a Business Manager admin must assign you Manage Commerce account permissions to continue.”
I’ve tried looking at previous threads with the same problem and they aren’t very helpful and I find them confusing.”
Trying so connect Shopify to IG, FB, and Pinterest has been super frustrating and difficult. I’d really like for someone to walk me through this.
Hey @RoyalPalms,
I understand how frustrating it can be to link your social media accounts to your Shopify store. Let's try to resolve this step by step!
Firstly, the error message you're seeing usually appears when the Facebook page or Instagram account you're trying to connect is already linked to another Shopify store or Facebook Business Manager.
Let me know how you get on,

Thanks for your reply! According to Meta, Classic Pages on Facebook are updating to the new Pages experience.
To Manage Page access in the new Pages experience follow the instructions listed here.

Hi Moira,
Im also having this problem.
I have followed your steps however when i click new page experience I do have the following options...
Instead it offers me, Page Access, Page Management History, Page Status, Page Recommendation.
What do I do next?
Thanks
Hey @rebeccadonaldso,
If you have Facebook access with full control of a Page, you can switch into your Page and assign or change a Page owner for your Page. To assign a Business Manager as a Page owner, you'll need to be both an admin of the Business Manager and have Facebook access with full control of a Page.
To assign a disclaimer as a Page owner, you'll need to be both the creator of the disclaimer and have Facebook access with full control of the Page.
This could possibly be why you are not seeing the options? Let me know how you get on!

I was receiving this error message:
This Facebook Page/Instagram account can’t be selected because it’s already connected to a Shopify store. You can disconnect the Facebook Page/Instagram account from the current Shopify store and then try again to select it.
I had to go to my business settings in business manager. Under accounts....click commerce accounts. From there, I had to click on whatever commerce account is showing up in the middle panel, and then click on open in "commerce manager". from commerce manager....i had to remove the existing catalog completely...it should be a remove catalog button somewhere.
I could not find the remove catolog button and followed your
instructions all the way to the last step. Any insight would be heloful as I am having this same issue trying to link my fb and ig accounts. I am trying to set up a pixel but need to do this step first.
thanks that solved my problem.
I went to Business Settings > Commerce Account > Commerce Manager > Settings and then I clicked to deactivate the commerce.
Hi Moira, I have an additional question on your Step 2.
When I go to my Instagram Settings > Business > Shopping, I have no where to see if I am connected to a catalog or not. My only options are:
"Link shop to creator" "Inventory" or "User Genterated Content (UGC)"
I am assuming because I have these options then I am linked to a catalog (even though all of these options are empty), but how do I disconnect?
[Edit] I found Catalogs in Business Settings in Meta Business Suite. Ignore my question.
Don't hesitate to reach back out if you require any further assistance as you continue to work on your store.
All the best,
