Why does 'Ship to Customer' POS feature require reboot after each use?

We are experiencing a glitch when you use the "Ship to Customer" feature on POS. 

 

Upon selecting the "Ship to Customer" feature and entering the details for shipment; address, contact details, you then get to the payment section. It says "Tap or insert card'. The insert does not work, the tap does. You can complete the sale via tapping or manually entering the card. However the whole reader then needs a reboot for any sale after as no card can then be read when inserted. 

 

How can this be fixed?
