Re: API Access has been disabled

Why is my API access disabled and how can I fix it?

When we request API interface, there's "errors": "[API] API Access has been disabled".
Not sure what's wrong.  Please tell us what to do.

Hi @DevFuns1 

It seems that there may be a momentary problem with the API or your app, or your app may have lost its permissions. You can attempt the following few solutions to fix this:

 

Verify that the app still has the necessary permissions to access the shop endpoint by checking the API permissions. Changes in settings or policies may occasionally result in the revocation of permissions.

 

Reinstall the App: Take the app out and put it back in. Resetting the permissions can assist in resolving the problem.

 

Check for API Restrictions: Shopify has rate restrictions on its APIs, which if surpassed may result in the temporary suspension of API access.

 

Please try these solutions and let me know if you are still facing issues.

Thanks for the reply. The App reinstalling and API restrictions checking were both tried, the problem is still there. I'd like to check the API permissions, could you please clarify where can I see them?

The scope should have been defined on config file.

shopify.app.config-name.toml
 
Please refer to https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/tools/cli/configuration, to see if the scopes are defined correctly.
 
For the list of permission that you can get, you can find it here.

After checking, it seems the failure for our API access was casued because the Protected Customer Data Access was in Draft status. Could you please review it again?

Hi @DevFuns1 ,

 

Have you completed all the steps that are required for Protected Customer Data Access? Like - selecting data use and reasons, providing data protection details. etc.

 

Generally, Draft status means this process is not completed for request access.

Unfortunately all you can do now is wait for Shopify team to complete their process and respond. You can connect with Shopify support team via here.

You can type "contact shopify support" on virtual chatbox and it should redirect you to the support agent.

Did you ever find a resolution to this?  Shopify support has not been helpful for us.
