Why is my shipping app not adjusting to discounts after the latest update?

I have a 3rd part app for shipping installed and since the update -- shopify is not providing them with prices after discounts are applied to the products. We give free shipping for cart total over $72. When the items that previously totalled $72 are discounted and therefore less than $72 -- the app is still applying free shipping. I have contacted the app developers and they have said that before the update they were receiving the accurate cart totals and able to apply the free shipping correctly.
