Will any notifications be send automatically to customer,if i use api to import customer and orders?

I just want to confirm that no notifications won't be send to customer, when we use api to import orders or customers.

In orders api i see send_receipt param, and it is set to false.
Is there anyway to confirm , no notifications of any kind be send to customers?
