Updating schema via api request

I was wondering if it is possible to update schema setting for an api request

Can you be more specific , this is very vague seems like a XY problem.

What are you trying to do what is the goal.

If you are trying to modify a themes sections schema use the assets api, always create some sort of backup of a theme/asset before changing such things.
