10k items bulk upload tracking and location issue

I have searched but can not find an answer so maybe someone can help -

We have taken on a new supplier, they have over 10k products they have supplied me with the files I need to bulk upload them, I want to be able to track the qty available as I get a update from them everyday.

So I have created a new 'location' called Depot M.

When I do a bulk upload all the items get added to the shop however they are all 'inventory not tracked', i needed them all to be tracked, but can't seem to do this in a bulk upload and I don't want to click on 10k items separately to do it.

I have also tried using the inventory import function with the new 'Depot M' location and the correct Qty's however I get an email after 5mins telling me "Couldn't update because the options don't exist in Shopify."

Just to clarify I have the other suppliers on my system with the same function example 'Depot G', but the stock file was only a few 100 lines and I manually marked each one as 'Tracked'

Your spreadsheet is probably not using the same format that Shopify requires, as a result import fails.

It is best to create a custom Shopify app for this if existing apps are not working for you. You can check spreadsheet apps in the app store.

Hi @campingHq ,

Welcome to Shopify Community.

Based on information provided, looks like you need an inventory management system if you are going to update your inventory frequently.

Various app are present on Shopify App Store for this.

If you need something specific to your store, then you need a custom embedded apps for this.

Thank you,

Sajat

Hi @campingHq

Please follow below steps

  1. Export Product Lines: Start by exporting the product lines from the store.
  2. Change Inventory Tracking Option: Open the exported file and locate the column labeled "Variant Inventory Tracker." You will need to update this column for each product variant. Change the value in this column to "Shopify" to ensure that Shopify will handle inventory tracking for these products.
  3. Re-upload Updated File: After making the necessary changes to the "Variant Inventory Tracker" column, save the updated file. Then, re-upload this file back into your store. This will update the inventory tracking settings for all the specified product variants.
  4. Perform Inventory Updates: Once the updated product data has been re-uploaded and the inventory tracking settings have been changed, proceed with performing any required inventory updates. This could include adjusting stock levels, adding new inventory, or performing any other necessary updates to ensure accurate inventory management.

Thanks very much for that, its great when someone knows exactly what they are talking about and also can explain in context that can be understood, changing the "Variant Inventory Tracker", sorted the issue. Inventory uploaded after that 🙂

Thanks
