Is this yet possible on any payment plan?

Please don't reply quoting apps. I want to know is it possible without apps, as this functionality was hinted at being released in the Winter editions, but I can't find any trace of it in the list of updates.

It is under development preview: Increased Variants developer preview

You can create a development store from your partner account to test it
I am not sure when it will be available for production
