I attempted yesterday to change the way my products were showing up on my homepage in one of my categories. I want the newest products to show first. I have made this change by clicking on Products > Collections > click on the collection > under 'products' sort by newest.
This doesn't seem to be working, as I think it is still showing products by what has sold. It's certainly not showing my newest products. The fella in the help chat told me it would take 24 hours for this change to go into effect, which seems kinda like he was just trying to blow me off, as I'm pretty sure it shouldn't take 24 hours for a simple design change to go into effect 🥲
Any other suggestions? my shop is https://sofunshop.co The 'Newest Art Prints' section on the homepage is what I'm trying to change...
Hi Jeanette5, try clearing the cache, and also check if your products are displayed differently on another browser.
Hey @fadi_yousif Thanks, I always forget about clearing cache. I cleared it through Chrome, but it's still looking the same in Chrome and also Safari. Hmm
I just tried the sorting feature on one of my development stores and it updated immediately. Check the section that renders the collection and make sure you've selected the right one.
I double-checked and I have the collection for that section set for 'art prints', which is the category I set to show newest first. Oh my goodness I just tried to upload a screenshot and the error message is saying I can only add csv or mp4. I feel like I'm hexed. 😆
Haha you need to press on the camera icon to upload images. I could send a request to access your store and have a look, if you want.
These products are being displayed first on your homepage because that's how they're ranked in the collection. Can you go to Products --> Collections --> Art Prints and send a screenshot of that page? I can't see everything on your store due to limited permissions, might need to request access to edit collections. Also, can you list the 5 newest products in that collection? I need to see where they're being ranked
Wait - I'm so confused. I just went back in and was able to sort them by latest and now it is showing up that way on my homepage. Previously it just wasn't changing the way they were sorted, even when I selected 'newest' if that makes sense.
It's the same thing I did earlier only now it is actually working. Does Shopify sometimes get stuck? Maybe something about you going in there un-stuck it magically.
Nice! And yes, Shopify does get stuck sometimes due to caching, which improves website performance but can also lead to delays in reflecting changes to your store's design and content. Anyway, looks like everything is working now!
