Ability to manually change the order of the collection root page

I am wanting to put the collection images into my own order. Not via new/old or A-Z etc.

The below is from using 'collections list page' which is the look I am after but I want to choose the order thse go in. Maybe a free app but I could not find one.

Understand that I can do it by using 'multicolumn', but then the image is no longer a link, the image becomes smaller and you close the effect.
