Add an image to the customer accounts order page?

I'm using the new customer accounts. I want to display an image on the account page that the customer sees when they first login. I'm using an app to show text, but is there any way to show an image based on customer tag? I'm open to app suggestions as well as coding. I know there's major limitations on what can be done on the new customer account pages so any feedback is helpful!

Hi @brendaanne3 ,

Could you please consider the following options for displaying dynamic content based on customer tags or metafields on our platform?

Utilizing an app offers a swift, code-free approach. While direct customization of the account page is somewhat restricted, apps can effectively present dynamic content driven by customer tags or metafields.

Recommended applications include:-

Customer Fields by Helium, which facilitates the management of tags and the conditional display of custom fields and content.

For themes that support extensions, Liquid Plus provides the capability to inject logic-based content. It is important to note that Shopify’s updated customer accounts, built with React, do not permit direct Liquid editing. Consequently, these applications typically function through widgets, modals, or redirects.

A more advanced solution involves employing an App Proxy in conjunction with the Storefront API. This method entails developing a custom application capable of fetching customer data, such as tags, via a proxy and subsequently displaying a relevant image dynamically. The application can then be integrated into the account area using an iframe or an extension point, where permissible. While this approach offers significant flexibility and complete customization, it necessitates development expertise.

Alternatively, redirecting logged-in users to a dedicated custom page, for instance, pages/account-dashboard, instead of the standard account area presents a valuable hybrid strategy. As this custom page supports Liquid, it allows for the conditional display of images.

This approach grants comprehensive design control and eliminates the need for an external application. However, it is worth noting that adopting this method would mean forgoing access to Shopify’s default account functionalities unless they are manually reconstructed on the custom dashboard.

Considering these options, for a rapid implementation, exploring Helium  would be advisable. For the most seamless and tailored experience, redirecting to a custom dashboard leveraging Liquid offers the greatest potential. Finally, for maximum control and customization, the app proxy and Storefront API route is available for those with development capabilities.

Please let me know if you need more information or any area you need more explanations.

Thanks !
