Adding a Description to a Collections page

Hi,

Just working on getting our store migrated over from oneshoppingcart and im having a little trouble adding a feature that I used to use,

http://www.wickedsmartapparel.com/aa here is an example of what I am talking about, we are able to add a description to a collection of products (in this case albany academy) I am trying to do something similar with the following:

http://wickedsmart.myshopify.com/collections/cba

but I cannot figure out a way to add a section to the collections page to allow this, is it possible? (not a dealbreaker if we cannot, but I would prefer it)

Thank You in advance.

Easy peasy:

<div id="colect-descr">{{ collection.description }}</div>

To add the description to the collection simply go to your collection on the back end and click edit. Remember you can add mark-up here in edit mode (html view) but not liquid.

I don't see it in your source. Are you sure you added it to collection.liquid? Are you sure you added a collection description to your collection in the admin by clicking edit on the collection view and adding some text or an image?

  <div id="content-table" class="clearfix">
    {% for collection in collections %}
    {% unless collection.all_products_count == 0 %}
    <div class="product{% cycle 'all-featured': '', '', '', ' last' %}">
      <div class="image">
        <a href="{{ collection.url }}">
          <img src="{{ collection.products.first.featured_image | product_img_url: 'medium' }}" alt="{{ product.title | escape  }}" />
        </a>
      </div>
      <div class="details">
        <a href="{{ collection.url }}">
          <span class="title">{{ collection.title }}</span>
          <div id="colect-descr">{{ collection.description }}</div>
        </a>
      </div>
    </div>
    {% endunless %}
    {% endfor %}
  </div

this is where i have it in the code, and yeah there is a description on that cba collection, i was assuming i should put it right below the title, but location might be the problem im having, thank you again

Hi I have a related question - new to Shopify - I also want to add a description to collection pages, but in this case vendor-specific, the pages that end with: /collections/vendors?q=Vendor+Name

And related to that, if there's no way to add description content to these vendor pages, is there an easy way to redirect

/collections/vendors?q=Vendor+Name

to a smart collection that has the URL

/collections/Vendor-Name

In my product template, where I have

{{ product.vendor | link_to_vendor }}

Is it possible to output the vendor name with dashes, a variable of the tag that outputs URL-ready content?

thanks!
