Alt text on images that have text

Hi there!

I'm working on including alt text to all the images on a site and I have a few questions.

1. How do you describe an image that has an inscription on it already i.e a mug that has an inscription? Do you describe the mug and include the inscription in quotation marks?
2. Is it okay to mention your brand name in the alt text? For instance, if you are describing a branded mug
3. In the case of a mug with a funny inscription, is it okay to mention that it's a fun gift idea?

The image ALT attribute is an ALTernative description for people that are using assistive technologies, screen readers, to consume web content. 

You just need to describe the image as best as you can. If the brand name is relevant, add it. The inscription seems relevant here, add it.
