Has anyone experienced issues with Honey using unauthorized coupons? any solutions or recommendations would be appreciated.
Hi @glowingpink
A coupon code should not go through on your store unless you have created/authorized it in your discounts module in the admin.
We haven't had any issues with Honey. However, we have had issues with a certain coupon aggregate site (which we hadn't previously heard of) advertising that we are offering discounts/specials/sales that we have never offered before, and handing out coupon codes that don't work on our site, which has led to some customers complaining that we are advertising and then not honoring these specials/coupon codes. We have put out a notice on social media and via newsletter that we have not advertised with this coupon site, nor have we authorized the specials & coupons that they are advertising on our behalf. If the issue continues, we are considering issuing a cease and desist letter to them.
thank you!
Hey @BobsMojo did you solve this issue?
If not, we've actually built an app to stop Honey and other coupon extensions from working.
https://apps.shopify.com/veeper-app
Coupon Blocker™: Blocks auto-applying coupon extensions at your checkout.
Campaign Links™ + Scripts: Replace your coupon codes and inject offers into your pricing. No coupon codes = No leaks.
Smart Discounts™: Apply the smallest discount that gets each customer to convert - boosting AOV by net 14%.
It not only safeguards your site, it removes coupon codes from the equation so promo sites don't have any supply to share. Let me know if you'd like some more info!
We have a solution that I think might interest you - send me an email to lisa@clean.io or checkout: http://www.blockcouponextensions.com/
Happy to talk to you about how our solution blocks automated coupon extensions (like Honey) & protects your revenue and user experience.
thank you!
We developed an app that blocks 25+ coupon extensions like Honey, Capital One Shopping, Retailmenot, Coupert, and so many others.
It not only blocks them from auto injecting, but even blocks them from showing up in the first place.
But even more exciting, we also crawl 100+ coupon sites and let you know exactly what code leaked out to which site.
No one can fully block extensions from scraping. That's just sadly a thing that isn't possible, but at least you'll know about it, and if you are on a plus plan, we can also disable it in checkout.
Best part! It's affordable and as low as $29/mo.

We (Vigilance) handle blocking honey, tagging orders with injections and provide email alerts on when/where your coupon code leaks.
