Blog Post as metafield on product or metaobject?

Does anyone know of a workaround to use articles/blog posts as a metafield on a product or meta object? It seems silly that this reference type is not allowed but you can use pages/products/most other object types as a metafield. 

Support just told me in nicer words to go pound sand when I asked if this was something supported by Shopify and that I would need to hire a "Shopify expert" to write a custom app but that just seems excessive...
