Can Someone Help With Custom Coding Some Text?

I would like to add some custom text to my home page. I would like to make the font bold and big in the color white for people to see. Also, my main menu has a weird glitch going on. In my main menu I have some categories as drop menu, but you cannot see the text (even though it has red text) due to the white background unless you hover on the text. I can change the color but then it changes the other texts color on the home page.
