Change image slider from dots back to carousel

hi everyone,

I recently made a change to the product image slider to show dots instead of the standard carousel and want to revert back but I am not able to do so.

I followed these instructions here:

So I updated the global.js code and product-media-gallery.liquid'.

I was able to revert almost everything but the color swatches are not working e.g. when switching to a different color, it does not show the first picture of that color variant. These changes are currently on a Theme copy. 

Is anyone able to help?

I am open for a collaborator request.
