Hello there,
A little bit of info:
Main Website: https://ungeometry.com/ .
Using theme: Spotlight version 15.3.0 .
Direct link to Dad Hat with changable design variant: https://ungeometry.com/products/ungeometrys-dad-hat-1?variant=53932326224163 .
Understanding: When clicking and selecting between design variants "UG Greyscale" and "UG Sunlit" for the Dad Hat, the mockup image, the main front-facing shot of the hat, is shown. UG Sunlit shows the design with yellow and blue, Greyscale shows the same but with light and dark grey. When changing the design variant, you notice that the mockup image type is the same, and only the design on the hat changes.
Main dissatisfaction 1: Now with UG Greyscale selected, try to click and preview the other mockup images along the thumbnail carousel under the main product preview image. You'll notice that all of the mockup images, including the mockup images for UG Sunlit, is shown.
Desired solution 1a: Only show mockup images for the selected design, and hide all else. When another design variant is selected, say to UG Sunlit, all the mockup images for UG Greyscale gets hidden while mockup images for UG Sunlit is shown.
Desired solution 1b: Allow customers to filter mockup images. For two designs, there's already a lot of mockups to select, so another 5 design would enlengthen the carousel to oblivion. IF this solution is possible, Desired solution 1a should be possible to implement and should be prioritised.
Else 1: I could actually remove a large portion of the mockup images. Instead of having a mockup image for all 11 colours × n designs, I can simplify it to 11 mockup images, showing each colour but also each design simultaneously. It will simplify things; though, with time, I'll have to let this thought linger.
Main dissatisfaction 2: While UG Greyscale is selected, and assume you found a mockup image of a model wearing that design. Now click on the design dropdown and select UG Sunlit. Instead of keeping her/him on the preview and only changing the design, you're suddenly given the main front-facing shot of the hat, not the model you wanted to keep.
Desired solution 2a: Given that a mockup preview is shown, when changing the selection of design variant, only change the mockup preview to an identical model using the new selected design variant.
Desired solution 2b: ONLY IF Desired solution 2a is not possible AND Desired solution 1a is applied, allow the main front-facing shot of the hat with the selected design be applied when changing design variant.
I am looking to achieve Desired solution 1a and 2a somehow. If anyone knows of a plugin that have features that can achieve these desired solutions, please do let me know. If anyone has coded or worked with stores that wanted the identical or similar desired solutions that I've mentioned, please do reach out!
Do ask for more details or ask questions.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @MuradValiev 👋 it's multiple variant images plenty of apps( 💣test performance thoroughly) for that , or can be done as an advanced theme customization.
There is no native behavior for multiple variant images.
Variants themselves do no support multiple images so only the first image for the selected variant is shown the rest are product level images that are irrelevant to whatever variant is selected.

Thanks for the response @PaulNewton !
My original post used the term "plugins" instead of "apps", --my mistake.
I did find an app called "NS Color Swatch Variant Images" which modified the UI for selecting the design on clothing, which is indeed helpful, and helps connect the name of the design to the visuals.
However, I still can't figure out how to incorporate a filtering feature to the mockup images shown in the thumbnail carousel under the main mockup preview. As you've mentioned, these mockup images are independent of the product variants, and I couldn't figure out how I can "attach" these mockup images to the design and achieve desired solution 1a. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@MuradValiev just burn the time digging through apps then, if an app doesn't support integration with an image gallery then it doesn't support image gallery's.
It's all or nothing don't overthink it you'll just waste time and money.
If your a merchnt that can't find a unicorn app and want a theme customized instead contact me.
