Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
I have 30+ scent options/variants for tons of different products I'm putting in my new store... I'm transferring from another ecommerce. I used to have a place to make a copy of these variants and then just 'add' them to the new product each time. Then if I changed it all products would also be changed. Is there an app or any way to do this? Right now it's a nightmare to list all these over and over again and then when I add or remove one which happens often I need to go to each and every product? 😕 Please tell me there is an easier way to do this?

Hi,
If you want to create same product then you can duplicate product from product page on shopify follow this:
1. Go to product section->open master product-> on top bar you can find "Duplicate" product option, by this product you can create duplicate product then change option that you want.
Let me know if you need help.

Hi, I can't seem to find the "open master product" place, and could really use the variant duplication thing right now.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Hi @Rallek
Its simple thing to do with product direct, Duplicate original product and change in variant that you want.
Hi Jasoliya,
I have a question about this process: if I delete some variants of the duplicated product, it won't affect the original product, right? The original product will stay exactly the same?
Thank you for your help!
I found an easy way if you are using the same variants for multiple products. In word or wordpad type out the variants with coma in correct spot to make your full run. save. them just copy and paste to new item.
Hi, this sounds like a dream. Mind giving more details about the process?
Thanks!
This is a much better option, especially if you are adding variants to an existing product. The "accepted solution" above is only useful when creating new products with the same variant list, something we can't do as new products are automatically sync'd from our inventory system into Shopify and variants then have to be manually entered for each. Thank you Manderson!
Could someone explain this further please. We have clothes so lets say we have 20 products with 10 color variants. We get a new color and want to add that color to the 20 existing products without recreating all new products. Thank you!
What I did to make this work was open notepad on my computer, paste all the variables separated by a comma with no space like this:
Name 1,Name 2, Name 3,Name 4
I then copied that, selected edit for my variables and pasted the whole line into the option value Add another value box, and then they were all entered 🙂
I'm building a simple free Shopify app to address this use-case. Please talk to me if you want to give it a try - Email me
dropped that project due to some other priorities
Has there been a solution for this yet ? I already have all the product made and listed , but I need to add more options .. I dont want to go in and edit 100 items one by one .,
The copy and paste with commas used to work, it no longer does, and they are forcing me to enter each one by one, Im opening a ticket with shopify, this is too time consuming. I think probably at this point the only way round it is to create ONE color variant, export the product, add the others into the csv and re-import. This is a terrible change.
