Hi community,

I am trying to figure out a way to create a new badge for 'New Arrivals' on the Reformation theme and as far as I can see it can only happen using custom code.
If anyone has a solution that would be amazing 🙂

Hi Ronla

I can see that you are showing badges as part of the product images in your store, but here's the proper way to show badges in Reformation Theme:

Add the tags in products that you want to show as badges it can be any tag, then from your online store in Customizer, go to setting and find Product Card, scroll to the bottom where you'll find custom badges, you can put different tag(s) (coma separated) in there to show with one specific color, for a different color, you can add those tag(s) to next field, there are 4 fields available for 4 different colors.

Hopefully you'll find it easy to do yourself, or let me know I can help you with any kind of badge designs and placements etc.

Thank You

Hello,

We are using the same theme for our store, and we have finally figured out how to add a "new arrival" badge to our products without needing to write any code. It’s really easy!

Here’s what you need to do:

1. **Go to your Products**:
Open your store and go to the products you want to mark as "new arrivals."

2. **Add the Tag**:
On the product page, look at the bottom right corner for a section called “Tags.”
In the "Tags" box, type the words **‘new arrival’** and press "Add."
You can also add other words by separating them with a comma (e.g., "new arrival, summer collection").
Once you do this, the tag "new arrival" will be added to the product.

3. **Change the Tag Look**:
To change how the "new arrival" tag looks on your store, follow these steps:
- Go to **Online Store** in your Shopify admin.
- Click **Customize**.
- In the customization options, find **Settings** and look for **"Product Card"**.
- Under "Product Card," you will see an option for **"Custom Badge"**.
- In the box for the custom badge, type the words **‘new arrival’** again.
- Choose the color and text style (font) you like for the badge.
- Save your changes.

That’s it! Now, the "new arrival" badge will show up on your product photos.

Before, I was using "metafields" to add badges. But now I’ve learned that the Reformation theme actually uses **tags**, not metafields, to show badges like this.

Hope this helps!

Let me know if you need anything else!

Hi, I am using Reformation theme7.1.0 version, somehow on my theme settings, the badge setting does not appear the same as yours.

It only shows Sale badge type, and only allows me to change color, and font size. It does not allow to make extra badges

Hi, if you scroll down a little past sales badge, you are going to see custom badge option (see screenshot below). There you can just add all the custom badges. Please note that reformation theme does not work with badges but instead they call them tags. In order to make a custom badge, first step is that you go to your product where you want to show that badge. Then go to tags (see second screenshot). Add your custom badge into tag and that's it.

If it is still not clear you can WhatsApp me on +31639477290 and I can show you the complete process step by step!

Thank you for the quick reply. Please check below our versions doesn't seem to have the Custom Badge option.

Is there any other options?

Oops. I just realize my current version: Reformation 2.6.1

Should I try to update?

But it said:

An updated copy of your theme will be added to your theme library so you can review before publishing. The copy will include your content, sections, and templates. Your code changes won't be included because one or more changes conflict with the update. After the updated theme is added to your theme library, you will be able to copy your code over or re-configure some apps.

ohh that's why haha. As I said it is hard to imagine and almost impossible that your theme files are different from mine if our source file is the same. You have not updated your version in months. Yes you need to update it. Before updating, make sure you first make a backup of your current version. you can do it simply by clicking on those 3 dots and press "duplicate". This will create a backup for you in case anything goes wrong.

It's important to keep your theme updated to ensure your webstore runs smoothly and reflects the latest changes.

Keep in mind: if you've made any edits to the theme's source code, those changes won't carry over to the updated theme. However, if you haven’t modified the source code, there’s nothing to worry about.

To update your theme:

  1. Click "Add theme to library". This will save the new theme to your library, where duplicate copies of your webstore themes are stored.
  2. Before publishing, use the "Preview" option to make sure everything works correctly.
  3. If everything looks good, click "Publish theme". The new theme will now go live for the world to see—simple as that!

To avoid confusion, rename the theme version to something like 7.1.0. This helps you keep track of which version you're working with.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

This is really strange. I am using the same version 7.1.0 and can see custom badge option. Since the source file is same, It is hard to imagine we have 2 different version. Did you already try to reinstall the version again to check? Looks like the custom badge source code is missing from your file. I would suggest to redownload the theme again. Also, maybe it is wise to contact fuel theme team. They are very helpful and response within 1 day.

I have another enquiry.....

Is it possible to make changes of the Sale Badge, to other wordings, like Final Sale.

may be it needs to change the code?
