CSS multiselect button/selections not working

Hi. I can't get any variation of the code from here to work in Shopify (or other examples of multiselect). Can it be that it's not possible?

I have placed the CSS in a liquid/html section with <style></style>. I have placed the CSS through the site wide custom CSS area, as well as placed it in the theme files. I get the same result every time, which is the backgrounds are gone, there are no hover effects, etc. I only see the text and it's clickable on hover.

How can I get the multiselect selection working? Thank you.

Hi. Liquid does not support scss syntax. So you need to modify it to CSS.

Hi, @hostilearth

Can you show me the code and location you added? Liquid does not support scss syntax. Have you added scss code?

Hi. I used the code linked to in my post. And not to be difficult, but I also wrote in my original post the locations that I have tried the code. I get the same result regardless of where I place the CSS, but the problem isn't that none of the CSS works, just all of it (although the code is valid).

Ah! I converted it to CSS and it works. Thank you very much.

Update: spoke too soon. It appears to work but I can't save it. I'll have to work with it, but at least now I know the root problem.
