I’m using Dawn 2.0 and I’m looking to add a banner per collection. Currently you can add a image banner over all collections but I would like a unique one per collection.

example: I’d like a different image banner for home & accessories than what I have for curated vintage

This is an accepted solution.

I had the same issue. I created templates for each collection using Online Theme - Customize - Collections - Create new template.

May not be the ideal solution but this way i was able to have a different banner image in each collection.

This is the easiest and best way to do this. Just have to be sure to go into the collection and select the template that corresponds.

Thanks!

Is this available on the app? I dont see a collection tab in the customization, just pages and navigations, and no option to create template

If you are using the 2.0 theme you can add banner images as dynamic sources. No need to create a page template for each collection.

You can either pull in the image you assign to the collections (image dimensions don't always work since these are usually used for the collection squares on home page), but for full width banners I would recommend the solution I used below.

Create a metafield for collections: Settings > Metafields > Collections

Name the metafield, "collection header image" or something similar.

Create it as a file upload and accept images only.

Then go to the theme customizer > Collection > Default Collection

Add an "Image Banner" at the top of the page using the left hand block builder

After selecting the "Image Banner", click the database icon on the right hand side for the image and select the metafield you just created as the dynamic source.

Now go upload your image to that metafield for each collection.

This avoids creating many page templates and additional files that are not needed.

Question - it only allows for me to add two "dynamic sources" - any advice?  I need more than that.
