Dawn theme: add a thumbnail to a shopify hosted video

What I'm trying to do is adding a thumbnail to the video on the video section of Dawn theme, looks like shopify only has that option for videos hosted on youtube. Is there a way to add a thumbnail for a video hosted on shopify for Dawn theme. Help would be appreciated. With the right steps I can add the custom HTML/CSS needed to add it.

With the video uploaded to Shopify, you can easily add the thumbnail by adding it in the Shopify Content > Files

Then select the video and add the cover image.

Adding the cover image seems to only add it to the list of files in Shopify.  I would like to change the video's cover image where the video is embedded on a site page.
