Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hi Folks 🙂
I have several collections each with a number of items in. When custoemrs build their orders they are selecting items as they think of them. When I look at their orders (awaiting fulfilment) the items appear in teh order the customer chose them (I think!) I want the items to be displayed in collection order and alphabetically. How can I do this please?
e.g. collections are A B C and D, customer orders B(aa), C(aa), A(aa), B(ab), A(ab), B(ac)
At the moment the unfulfileld order will look like
B(aa)
C(aa)
A(aa)
B(ab)
A(ab)
B(ac)
I want
A(aa)
A(ab)
B(aa)
B(ab)
B(ac)
C(aa)
thanks so much for your help. I have looked everywhere but cant find a way to edit the orders page to do this obviously needed and should be simple task!
Chad
Hi @chad0x001 ,
When a collection is displayed in an online store, the products in that collection appear in the sort order that you've selected. Products are sorted alphabetically by product title by default.
You can select from a few sorting options:
From your Shopify admin, go to Products > Collections.
Click a collection.
In the Products section, click the drop-down list beside Sort, and then select a sort order.
If you select Manually, then you can click and drag the products in the list to reorder them.
You can also click and select one or more products in the list. Click Move to reorder them to a specific position in the collection.
Click Save.
I hope this may help.
I hae all my collections set to display alphabetically. What I am after is the order contents (when a custoemr has placed an order and it sits waiting to be fulfilled) to be displayed alphabetically by collection. So when we print an order off to go and pick it, we see all the items A-Z in collection A first, then all the items A-Z in collection B and so on. See here for an example of a customer order
You will see items marked as CRU (from the crucible of war collection) lised F before C and then items from the Tales of Aria collection (ELE) being far apart and again, not in alphabetical order.
yes, i get it you want to add sort filter inside the cart page, right?
No. I want the order at the shopify dashboard > orders to be in alphabetical by collection. Not the customer side, the vendor side. So the vendor (me) can print off an order then pick the items from the collections in A-Z order. So first I pick items from collcetion A in A to Z order, then collection B in A to Z order and so on.
Hi @chad0x001 ,
Thank you for your information. Unfortunately, this is current not an available feature in Shopify since items in the cart are sorted by the time they are added.
It should be so basic, though. To be able to display these items in the order mentioned above.
Find all collections used within the order. Find all items in the order.
Now display all collections in alphabetical order and within each collection, display items from those collections in alphabetical order.
This is codeable, the question is how? And this will be useful to LOADS of people who have lots of collections and lots of items per collection too, right?
This seems like a really basic thing that shopify can do, but how?
I think it is already possible to display an order to the customer in this manner so we should be able to do this within shopify for the order "picker" the person who will physically go to a collection then search A-Z through the collection for the items before moving onto the next collection and so on.
Surely there is a way to do this?
Use the Picklist app to pick items sorted by product type or category.
