Dawn theme - I want to upgrade the theme's version while keeping my customized code.

As I mentioned in the title, I want to update the Dawn theme to the latest version. However, when I checked, I heard that the customized code would be reset. Since I’m already selling products to customers and the amount of customized code is quite large, it’s problematic to lose all of it when upgrading the version. I want to upgrade the version while keeping these codes intact, but I’ve heard that it requires manually copying everything. I’m not confident about doing it myself, as I’m worried I might make mistakes. Is there anyone who can help me with the theme version upgrade?
