Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
Hi!
I’ve been working on customizing the footer of my Shopify store, and I’m having trouble properly positioning some elements like:
The center logo
Social media icons
Newsletter subscription form
Additional page links (like About Us, Support, etc.)
I’m trying to make these elements more flexible in layout — ideally, I’d like to be able to position them (top-left, bottom-right, centered, etc.) using settings in the theme editor. I’ve already added select options in the schema to define their position, and I’ve tried adding conditional classes in Liquid based on those values.
The problem is: no matter what values I select, the elements don't actually move, or they stack strangely. I’ve also tried using custom CSS and flexbox, but the positioning remains inconsistent or gets overridden by other styles.
I’m using a customized theme (based on Dawn), and I’d really appreciate any advice or examples of how to properly connect the schema options to Liquid and CSS so the positioning actually works.
Thanks in advance for any help — I’ve been stuck on this for a while!
