Display Variant / Option name under product media when selected

I'm wondering if it's possible to have the selected option's name display under the product media when selected.

Currently it displays as a tooltip, but it would be better if it showed on the page. Ideally, for best positioning on mobile, just under the product media, between that and the gallery.
