Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
I notice' that there have been some changes installed lately that affect the 'duplicating products' function in the Product screens.
We use the 'duplicate a product' option a lot as it save much time when entering a new season of clothing.
It is now PRE-SELECTING almost all default options for us and we have to go un-select the ones we don't want.
It is now showing:
Image Barcodes Inventory Quantities Translations
... as being checked (pre-selected).
Now we have to go and un-select most of these each time we duplicate a product.
I don't know what other store owners mainly use this function for, but for us, it's just another way for mistakes
to be made. Again....a change that makes more work for us than helps us.
IS THERE SOMEWHERE IN THE SETTINGS WE CAN INDICATE WHICH OF THESE OPTIONS WE WANT 'DEFAULTED' (checked)???
I know it's was a small change, but it would be excellent if ALL changes were posted in the Change Log and a card put on our home page when there have been updates to an 'area' such as Products. There has not been and update posted against PRODUCTS in the Change log since January.
I also noticed this and I am highly annoyed. I use the duplicate product feature ALOT!, and to have to deselect is really slowing me down. Hope there is a way to set some sort of defaults
Addendum.... I also noticed that if the product I am duplicating has complementary products on it, those are being copied to the 'new product'
also. This is a definite bug. I spoke to support and hopefully something will be done about it. I logged it under a separate discussion.
Has anyone been able to find a method in which to change this behavior? It sure slows our workflow and introduces errors.
Finally...I have the same complaint and have been wondering if I am the only one. I usually like the changes that get made to shopify app and POS, but this last batch of changes has me absolutely frustrated. I also use the duplicate to add new product so I don't have to add all the tags, collections, product types and vendor all over again. Having to de-select everything pisses me off and can't even de-select the description. So now you have to go and delete that too. Who thought this would be a good idea!!!!!
I would also like to add that this change is annoying the absolute heckers out of me, I keep forgetting to manually uncheck the options which are now all auto-selected when duplicating a product, and then I am having to try and delete all of the info that i didn't want duplicated, it is driving me crazy and making things take so much longer. It's a terrible change, it was so much better and more intuitive before. It's frustrating me enough that I am spending my time googling this issue and posting complaints when I cannot afford to be losing time like this, but that is how how friggen annoying this is.
Right! 100% agree and how annoying is it that if you uncheck those boxes, the description is still there.
Not sure I even remember the last update they made to the work flow that made it better. Every update they've made has added an extra click or two.
What's worse for me is that it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a full minute to duplicate a product. Have to sit and twirl my thumbs each time while waiting for it to load. Anyone else have that problem?
