Shopify themes, liquid, logos, and UX
My store is unable to checkout. I have reported this to Shopify support team and still pending for their developers to resolve this and still waiting since 11am. Has anyone here experiencing the same issue?

change your cart page form action to 'checkout'

Yes, one of our stores experiences the same issue. The cart page just reloads after clicking the checkout button, with no error whatsoever. It is confirmed by Shopify Plus Support that this is an acknowledged issue and that their developers are working on a fix. Losing sales for over 90 minutes now.
Yes, this is seriously affecting our business and we are losing sales by the seconds. I have reported thrice and let’s hope they fix it ASAP. Thank you for sharing and somehow it’s a relief that I am not alone.
Yes same problem here. Very frustrating.
Omg yes indeed! Stressed out since we can’t do much but just wait. Shopify better do something fast!
same issue, has been almost 8 hours. I have been in contact with Shopify support, they are working on the issue but cannot give any ETA for the fix.
Oh no, sorry to hear that. 8 hours not a joke! Let’s hope it can be fixed soon 🤞🏽
As a temporary fix, you can add a static anchor to /checkout instead of submitting the cart form (with a <input type="submit"> button). This means you can continue to the checkout but any other logic that's being used on the cart page will probably not be executed.
Sorry, I'm bad in coding and definitely not a coder. May I know which part should I add this?
I'm sorry, i'm unable to help anybody separately. I have a business to run ;-). If you have access to the code of your theme ("edit code"), go to cart.liquid, look for the submit button which takes you to the checkout. Comment out or remove this button temporarily. Add this instead:
<a href="/checkout">Continue to checkout</a>
I found it. Remove this part right?
<button type="submit" name="checkout" class="btn">{{ 'cart.general.checkout' | t }}</button>
Yes
Shopify support told me to disable Google tag manager code from the additional scripts but I'm not good with code so haven't attempted it. Has anyone tried this and been successful?
Tried it, didn't work for my case. They also told me that this GTM fix MAY work.
Oh no. Okay does the GTM disabling works for you?
Nope
It didn't work for me too 😞
Didn't work 😞

OMG this worked! @Kani you're the BEST. Thank you so much for reaching out and providing us a real solution. Seriously, this is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more helpful than reporting to Shopify Support 100000x a day without any solution! Appreciate, you're a beautiful soul ❤️ Guys, please try her solution!
Hello I seem to be having the same issue but I believe a bit differently. All of a sudden my store is saying that my check out isn’t available and I need to change my plan but I have the yearly plan of 319 312 can someone please help me with this please.
disabling Google tag manager only works for Shopify Plus accounts
Most reported doesn’t work too. Shopify has put this issue as high alert on their status page.
can I know your store url? you can DM me
Same here.. Analyzify staff has investigated the issue for us and the conclusion is that we need to wait for shopify to fix it. God knows how long.. but for the moment we are not even able to contact shopify by chat..
We have detected that even with no Google Tag Manager snippet available and even with our codes are removed, the problem persists. That means this problem is not related to GTM our Analyzify. We have gone ahead and found the main cause of the problem. This also explains the left-over google code you have just shared with us. According to our investigation, Shopify’s native connection file (Trekkie) injects a gtag file which is loaded from google tag manager domain. That’s why Shopify support team thinks that this issue is happening because of GTM, but apparently it’s their Trekkie file which causes the problem. I’m sharing a screenshot which shows this request. Please reach out Shopify support team and share our findings. Until they solve the issue, there is nothing to remove from your theme files unfortunately.
pls try my solution at first, it works for other people too. why not try it🙂

Is working - thank you!!!
It was a bit difficult because I'm not a developer and I'm using a different theme. But checking each file related to cart I found that little piece of code.
well done, you are the best 🍻
if you don't mind you can share you theme name and your cart file name at that post, it will help others 😁
Kalles 2.3 theme, the files that you need to change are cart_widget.liquid and cart-template.liquid
Then - theme settings and disable the "Cart view" button.
However, there is still a bad scenario possible - if a client reaches checkout and then clicks the cart link is still getting stuck on the cart page. Another thing is that the redirect is done to the default language (romanian in our case).
But well.. is still a good fix for the moment. 🙂
can I know your store url?
Hi @RCosmin
I think you have not edit your cart.liquid (it may called other name, you can find it in sections folder )
Found it - all good now, except the language at checkout. I updated the instructions for Kalles in the previous post too. 🙂
Thank you!
Shopify has announced that the issue is finally fixed. Is anyone still having trouble?
Yes I received the updates too. Have you change your code back to /cart yet?
Guys, I've changed back to /cart and so far it's working now. Appreciate everyone's sharing and help here. You guys are the best ❤️
