Force mobile menu to diplay on desktop for debut theme

I'm trying to force the mobile menu (hamburger icon) to show at all times. Also, if possible, I would like hamburger icon to appear on the left side, not the right. I am using the latest version of the debut theme. Would you please provide instruction on how to accomplish this with code? Please be thorough as I am not a coder and I'm new to editing theme files.
