Dear shopify community!

I'm trying to add just a simple 500x500 image, a b2b logo to the bottom of a page.

But i cant select simple "image" as a section. Instead i only able to select "image banner" or "image with text"

But no plain simple image.

I can select a "video" section, but no plain, simple "image" section is available,

In shopify's most popular, most recommended free theme, called dawn.

Dawn is so bland and completely useless in the terms of design,

that the price of shopify subscription will be more than your revenue.

Its visually so uncustomizable and limited that it took me almost a year to discover, how to build workarounds and test hundreds of rip-off clumsy apps to overcome the limitations of the very limited and cumbersome shopify theme editor.

We paid for our shopify subscription for almost a year without a revenue because of this.

Now i'm using an affordable, unlimited, new app what let me design my store in canva websites, and so i can import the canva website pages as a section to my shopify store, all without code.

So finally, i see in google search console that our site started to grow, markedly.

Unfortunatelly this app is quite new, and only let me to add a single section to one page,

if i want to continue the page with sections what are relying on shopify's back-end, such as a contact form,

i still have to use the very limited shopify theme editor.

This shopify subscriber also had the same issue, a simple image cant be added in the theme editor:

https://community.shopify.com/c/technical-q-a/how-can-i-add-a-simple-image-to-a-dawn-theme-page/m-p/...

An another example, a simple image cant be added properly and efficiently:

https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-discussions/how-to-add-a-simple-image-block-to-home-page-daw...

Another example, you cant even add a simple image in the theme editor as a section:

https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-design/how-can-i-add-a-single-image-to-a-page-using-the-dawn...

And an another example, a simple image as a section is a luxury, beyond reach for the theme editor:

https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-design/how-to-add-a-simple-non-stretched-image-with-no-text-...

More example, a simple image as a section is a problem that cant be solved in this century, maybe in the next:

https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-discussions/how-can-i-add-a-non-full-width-image-to-dawn-wit...

...

and the list grows every day.

Why i wrote this article?

Because i still like to use shopify, and i would recommend it for every english speaking shop owner.

Its have a solid back-end,its fast and neat for business administration.

Even that way, its a more feature-rich platform, compared to the local offerings in Hungary for example

Unas,shoprenter etc.

So please, just update the theme editor, particularly dawn theme editor,

because its a pain to work with it.

Thank you for reading.

Best wishes from Hungary.

hi @Marton01

There are a few workarounds you might find useful:

Custom Liquid Section – You can add a "Custom Liquid" section in Dawn and insert a simple <img> tag to display your B2B logo. This doesn't require a full custom theme edit.

Custom Section Code – If you’re comfortable with editing theme files, you can create a new section specifically for standalone images. I can guide you through the steps if needed.

Using a Page Builder App – It sounds like you're already using an app to overcome Shopify’s limitations. If you need more flexibility, apps like Shogun or PageFly might provide a more seamless experience.

You need to understand that Shopify free themes are limited. However, you can add a 500 x 500 image (logo) to the header and the bottom of the page (footer). All you have to do is add image block in the footer section.community.pngSolution.png
