Hide a 'Product Type' Faceted Filter in a Collection when it is Automated based off 'Product Type'

I would like to remove redundancy when a customer selects a product category (Ex. Fruits), and then the faceted filter for product type appears and is selectable even though everything in the collection is already a "fruit".  I still want the product type filter to show up on other collections such as vendor based collections or my search results page. 

The same would also apply for my vendor filter. While I would like to have it show up if they navigate to product type collection page, if they clicked on a collection of products based on all one brand, I would like brand filter to be hidden as it would be redundant.

These are the only two of my faceted filters that I can currently think of that would need this sort of implementation. I've tried filter apps but I prefer how lightweight search & discovery is so would like the solution to be an update to my theme.liquid or something

Normally there is a narrow-down option for the filter so you can check for that setting in the Product Type filter. The app I am using also has it https://apps.shopify.com/ultimate-search-and-filter-1
